Preheat oven to 425 (If you’re using a store bought dough, use the temperature that is on those instructions). Set out the dough.
Halve and thinly slice the onion. In a saucepan on medium-low heat, toss together the butter and onion. Stir every few minutes to keep from burning, and put 1 tablespoon of water into the pan every time they dry out, and scrape brown bits off the pan. Cook until onions are soft and golden brown (anywhere from 35-45 minutes), and remove from heat.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, and stretch out the pizza dough onto the baking sheet, making the dough as thin as you like.
Brush the dough with olive oil and sprinkle garlic evenly over the dough.
Bake about 8-10 minutes (or, if you are using a store bought dough with instructions, follow this cooking time, baking for 5 minutes less than the time on the dough states), or until just turning golden brown.
Remove the dough from the oven, and place the figs, caramelized onion, and goat cheese onto the crust. Place back in oven for 5 minutes, or until crust is golden brown
Once the dough is ready, put arugula on top, and drizzle with balsamic reduction. Cut and enjoy!
