Walnut Thumbprint Cookies
These nutty, easy to make cookies are a must for the holiday season. Top with your favorite jam and enjoy!

- ¼ cup margarine softened
- ¼ cup butter softened
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 1 egg white and yolk separated
- ½ teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup finely chopped walnuts
- Jam of your choosing I typically use olallieberry or blackberry
Preheat oven to 375 F
Mix together the margarine, butter, egg yolk (set aside egg white), brown sugar, and vanilla.
Sift together the flour and salt. Then, mix into the butter mixture until a dough forms.
Roll into 1” balls, dip into the egg whites, and roll through the walnuts, coating the dough in walnuts.
Place onto a baking sheet and place in oven for 5 minutes.
Remove from oven after 5 minutes, and quickly press your thumb into the center of each cookie.
Place back in oven for 8 minutes.
Remove from oven, and add preserves of your choice on top. Enjoy!
