This strawberry basil martini is great for spring and summer! Made with fresh strawberries, basil, and lemon for a perfect mixture of tart and sweet.
This recipe is partially inspired by my passion fruit martini, this cocktail is fruit forward without being too sweet. Topped with sparkling wine to make the most refreshing martini possible! It's also inspired by this earl grey lavender martini, which also has floral notes paired with citrus.
Ingredients
- Strawberries: This recipe calls for fresh strawberries. In the US, strawberries are usually available year-round, but I tend to make this recipe in spring and summer when strawberries are in season!
- Gin or vodka: Gin brings a more delicate, herbal/floral taste while vodka is more tasteless. I prefer gin in this recipe but use what you prefer!
- Fresh basil: Basil and strawberries make such a great combination to bring out the best of both flavors.
- Simple syrup: You can make this at home using a 1:1 ratio of sugar and water or buy it pre-made in the alcohol section of most grocery stores.
- Lemon: The citrus juice adds a tartness to balance out this sweet cocktail!
- Sparkling wine: Top off the cocktail with sparkling wine to make it extra refreshing and balanced. I like using a dry Prosecco so it helps further balance the sweet strawberries.
