This pizza is heavy on flavor and light on ingredients. The garlic ricotta base serves up a creamy and delicious pizza, and the mozzarella and parmesan to top it off push this pizza over the edge! It’s also loaded with spinach and artichokes, all coming together to make a delicious pizza.
I love getting my vegetables in fun and tasty ways, and pizza is such a great way to do it! This and my butternut squash pizza are loaded with vegetables and absolutely delicious.
Ingredients
- Pizza dough (homemade or store bought): I always use store bought, and don’t have a pizza dough recipe on this website. There’s tons of good pizza dough recipes out there, but if you want to make your pizza night easier (like me), I like the refrigerated pizza dough sold at Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods!
- Olive oil: You’ll need this to spread on the pizza dough and to toss with the spinach.
- Ricotta: This creamy cheese is used to make the base of this pizza recipes by mixing it with garlic, salt, pepper, and (optional) red pepper flakes.
- Garlic
- Salt
- Pepper
- Red pepper flakes (optional)
- Mozzarella: I did tell you it was a 3 cheese pizza, and this creamy cheese is a necessity on this pizza.
- Canned or jarred artichoke hearts: Cut into quarters or smaller, depending on your preference.
- Spinach: Make sure it’s fresh!
- Parmesan: I recommend freshly grated for the best texture and flavor.
- Optional for topping: spicy honey
FAQs
Do you have a recipe for pizza dough?
I don’t! There are plenty of great pizza crust recipes out there, but I tend to use a store bought crust to make things easier. If you go with store bought, my favorites are the refrigerated dough from Trader Joe’s or Whole Foods.
Instructions
1) Let pizza dough sit out at room temperature for at least 30 minutes.
2) Preheat oven to 475 F.
3) Stretch/roll dough out on a lightly floured surface to desired thickness. Place on parchment paper lined baking sheet or pizza pan.
4) Brush 2 teaspoon olive oil over the top of the dough.
5) In a bowl, mix together the ricotta, garlic, salt, pepper, and (optional) red pepper flakes. Spread ricotta mixture evenly over the dough, leaving space on the edges for a pizza crust.
6) Mix the spinach and remaining olive oil together. Then, spread spinach evenly over the ricotta.
7) Spread mozzarella evenly over the spinach.
8) Evenly distribute artichoke on the pizza.
9) Sprinkle parmesan over the pizza.
10) Place spinach artichoke pizza in the oven until crust is golden brown (8-10 minutes).
11) Remove from oven, and (optional) drizzle with spicy honey. Cut and enjoy!
