What do I need to make this recipe?
- Sushi grade Ahi tuna steaks
- Olive Oil
- Soy sauce (regular or low sodium)
- Jalapeños
- Cilantro
- Ginger
- Lime
- Garlic
I don’t like things too spicy, how much jalapeño should I use?
Totally up to you, you can always leave the jalapeños out completely, but I think they add an amazing flavor, so you could start with half the amount and see what you think!

Ginger Soy Ahi Tuna
Ingredients
- 12 ounces sushi grade Ahi tuna steak about 2 pieces
- ¼ cup chopped cilantro loosely packed
- 2 tablespoon soy sauce regular or low sodium
- 2 tablespoon jalapeños finely chopped
- 2 tablespoon olive oil separated into 1 tablespoon each
- 1 tablespoon lime juice
- 2 garlic cloves minced
- 1 teaspoon ginger grated
- Optional for garnish: sesame seeds and/or thinly sliced jalapeños
Instructions
- Mix together the cilantro, soy sauce, jalapeños, 1 tablespoon olive oil, lime juice, garlic, and ginger.
- Put tuna steaks in a plastic bag, then pour all but ¼ cup of the soy sauce mixture over the fish. Let marinate for 10 minutes. Set the extra ¼ cup of marinade aside.
- In a pan on medium high heat, add the remaining 1 tablespoon olive oil. Then, sear the tuna for about 1 minute on each side.
- Remove the tuna from heat and transfer to cutting board. Slice to desired thickness.
- Plate the fish and pour the reserved marinade over the fish, garnish, and serve.
