Ingredients

- Italian, French, or sourdough loaf
- Butter
- Parmesan
- Mayonnaise (yes, really)
- Garlic
- Fresh basil
- Fresh Italian parsley
- Fresh chives
- Mozzarella
- Optional: red pepper flakes

Instructions

- Step 1: In a medium bowl, mix together the butter, parmesan, mayo, garlic, and fresh herbs.

- Step 2: Spread the butter mixture over the bread (keep in mind that different loaves have different surface areas, if you feel like you need to spread the mixture very thin to cover the bread, make a little more!)

- Step 3: Sprinkle mozzarella evenly over the butter mixture.

- Step 4: Broil in the oven until cheese is golden brown, 2-5 minutes depending on the power of your broiler.
Substitutions
- Gluten Free - To make this recipe gluten free, simply use a gluten free loaf of bread
- Vegetarian - This recipe is already vegetarian, enjoy!
Variations
- Spicy - add red pepper flakes (to taste) to the butter mixture for a bit of a kick
Storage
Wrap tightly in aluminum foil or plastic wrap and store in the refrigerator for 3-4 days or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
To reheat, wrap in aluminum foil and reheat in oven, air fryer, or toasted oven at 350F until heated through.

If you have to spread the butter mixture very thin to cover the bread, make more! Different loaves have different surface areas and this recipe is a general guideline. You don't want to skimp on the butter mixture, it's what makes this garlic bread so special!

Ingredients

- 1 lb Italian, French, or sourdough loaf of bread I look for a flatter loaf, like a batard, for the best flavor
- 1 stick butter, room temperature
- 2 tablespoon mayonaisse yes, really! I promise it makes all the difference
- 2 tablespoon freshly grated parmesan
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh basil minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh Italian parsley minced
- 1 tablespoon frech chives minced
- salt and pepper, to taste
- optional: red pepper flakes to taste
- 1 cup mozzarella shredded
Instructions
- Preheat oven on broil with a rack ~6" from heat
- In a medium bowl, mix together the butter, mayo, parmesan, garlic, herbs, salt and pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using).
- Slice the bread horizontally. Spread butter mixture evenly over bread, then sprinkle mozzarella over butter mixture.
- Place in the oven on a baking sheet and watch closely. Remove when cheese is bubbling and golden, about 3-5 minutes.
- Remove and enjoy! (Pro tip: Sprinkle some of the chopped fresh herbs on the bread for a prettier presentation)
