Who doesn't love a jalapeño popper?! This healthier version has all the flavor with fewer calories and more protein! Make this recipe as an appetizer for a party or put it out on game day. The combination of creamy cheese, crispy bacon, and flavorful jalapeño never gets old.

Ingredients

- Jalapeños
- Bacon
- Cottage cheese
- Cheddar cheese
- Green onion
- Worcestershire sauce
- Garlic powder
- Salt
- Pepper

Instructions

- Step 1: Combine all filling ingredients in a medium bowl

- Step 2: Fill the halved jalapeños with the filling

- Step 3: Sprinkle cheddar cheese over the stuffed jalapeños

- Step 4: Wrap with bacon and hold in place using a toothpick

5. Step 5: Bake at 400F until bacon is crispy (about 20-25 minutes)
Substitutions
- Vegetarian - To make this recipe vegetarian, use your favorite vegetarian bacon substitute
- Gluten free - Make sure that the Worcestershire sauce you use is certified gluten free for a completely gluten free recipe
Variations
- Spicy - to make these jalapeño poppers spicier, don't completely remove the membrane and seeds from the jalapeños

Storage
If you want to prep these to serve later, do not bake ahead of time, assemble only and refrigerate in a covered container. Jalapeño poppers will keep in the fridge for 3 days, cook when ready to eat!

Healthier Jalapeño Poppers
Equipment
- toothpicks
Ingredients
- 8 small to medium jalapeños
- 8 pieces of bacon halved
- ½ cup cheddar cheese shredded
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400F.
- In a medium bowl, mix all of the filling ingredients together. Adjust salt and pepper to taste.
- Stuff the jalapeños with the filling. Then, sprinkle remaining cheddar cheese on top. Lightly press cheddar cheese into the mixture (this will help reduce the amount of spillage when cooking).
- Wrap each stuffed jalapeño with a half piece if bacon and secure with a toothpick.
- Place jalapeños on a foil lined baking sheet, making sure they don't touch.
- Bake until bacon is crispy, about 20-25 minutes.
- Transfer off of baking sheet as soon as possible when done to avoid them sitting in bacon grease.
